Italian Courses for Foreigners

Learning Italian is the first step to fully integrate into life in Cento. Our courses are taught by qualified volunteer teachers and are completely free.

A1 – Beginners

Free

For those who don't speak Italian yet. Alphabet, greetings, everyday words.

A2 – Elementary

Free

Simple sentences, present and past tense, practical situations: shopping, at the doctor's, at the office.

B1 – Intermediate

Free

Full grammar, writing, preparation for the CILS/CELI certification.

B2 – Upper-intermediate

Complex texts, professional vocabulary, job interview preparation.

Conversation

Free

Oral practice in small groups (max 8 people). Booking required.

Literacy

Free

For those who cannot read or write. Morning course, ideal for mothers with small children.

To enrol you need to create an account on the portal. Open enrolments are announced on the centre's notice board and via the community WhatsApp. Places are limited to 15 per course.

Religious education

Qur'an and Islamic Sciences

Religious education is at the heart of our mission. We offer courses for every age and level, from basic recitation to advanced Islamic sciences.

Qur'an – Children (5–12 years)

🕐 Thursday and Saturday 16:00–17:30

Reading, basic tajweed, short surahs and Islamic manners. Native Arabic-speaking teacher.

Qur'an – Teenagers (13–17 years)

🕐 Saturday 14:00–16:00

Advanced tajweed, tafsir of the surahs, history of Islam.

Qur'an – Adults

🕐 Tuesday 18:30–20:00

Reading and memorisation for those with some basics. Separate groups for men and women.

Islamic education – Adults

🕐 Friday after Jumu'ah

Practical fiqh, pillars of Islam, ethics and daily life. Lesson in Italian and Arabic.

Integration

Integration Activities

Besides the regular courses, we organise special activities to encourage encounters between the Muslim community and the local one.

  • Open day Once a month, the centre opens to all citizens of Cento to discover Islamic culture.
  • Intercultural workshops in schools Our volunteers take part in workshops in the primary and middle schools of Cento.
  • Islamic film club One Friday a month, screening of quality documentaries and films on Islamic civilisation, with open debate.
  • Mothers' group Weekly meeting for mothers and children. Discover the group →
  • Ramadan Academy Intensive programme during Ramadan: daily lessons, community iftar, activities for young people.
  • Excursions and trips Organised family outings: exhibitions, museums, nature. Promoting active citizenship.
